Wouldn't It Have Been Better Stewardship If the Perfume Was Sold and the Money Given to the Poor?

John 12:1-8

Judas scolded Mary about using expensive perfume on Jesus instead of selling it and giving the money to the poor. The Bible tells us he said this because he was a thief and probably wanted to steal some of that money. However, even though Judas' motives were wrong, wasn't the principle behind it right?
